Communications Strategist

Kathleen Vega partners with people across Safe & Reliable to create, refine, and standardize various written and oral communications. She has been instrumental in bringing our Framework for High Reliability Healthcare to life and helping refine content and communications for our Academy programs.

Ms. Vega has written about patient safety, healthcare improvement, and high reliability for more than 20 years, partnering with individuals and organizations to produce books, articles, white papers, blogs, brochures, and interactive education materials. She specializes in shepherding organizations through messaging and content development and crafting focused, compelling pieces that provide valuable insights for readers.

Throughout her career, Ms. Vega has worked with several leading healthcare entities, including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, the Joint Commission, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She’s also developed messaging and content for healthcare technology clients through her work with Merge, a national marketing, and advertising firm. At the start of her career, she worked in marketing and communications for several media outlets, including American Demographics Magazine, Times Mirror Cable Television, and the ABA Journal: The Lawyer’s Magazine.

Ms. Vega has a bachelor’s of arts in psychology and sociology from Cornell University. She has two grown children and lives outside of Chicago with her husband and dog.
