Linda Hummel RN, BSN, MS

HRO Expert

Linda has been a practicing professional nurse for 40 years.  She has a  BSN with a Masters Degree in Health Service Administration.  She has been a leader in participating  in Total Quality Management and Patient-Centered Care to make process improvements and ensure quality, safe and effective patient outcomes.  Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Highly energetic and takes great pride in accomplishments and projects completed.  Effective leader and enjoys educating and working with peers.  

A 2004 Graduate of the National Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship, sponsored by Health Forum and American Hospital Association.  As a patient safety expert, was active with the Mission Health System leadership team to implement a Patient Safety Culture, which produced transparency and increase in reporting with a decrease in harm for all patients based on a foundation of a Just Culture.   Mission Health was awarded the 2019 AHA finalist for QUEST for quality award.     Participated as an active team member and co-author of application for achieving recognition from Lincoln Foundation for Excellence Illinois state quality award and a National Baldrige application.  State Examiner for Malcom Baldrige Quality Award criteria.   Active member of team with University Healthcare Consortium in writing a white paper to share with all members regarding the need for a "Culture of a Constant State of Readiness" for quality and patient safety.   A facilitator for University Health Care Consortium web conference for a Constant State of Readiness, August 2010.  Presenter at the University Health Care Consortium, for Constant State of Readiness, April 18, 2012.  Facilitated teamwork and data collection with neurology services and neuro-surgery to become a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, December 20, 2012 at University of Louisville, and also June 2017 Mission Hospital designated Comprehensive Stroke Center.  Linda participated with the Mission leadership team to improve patient flow and experience in the Mission Hospital Emergency Department beginning the summer of 2016, the work and result were presented at the Healthcare Catalyst National Conference September 2018. The “Always Patient Experience Model” being implemented throughout Mission Health System Clinics, based on creating the “always event” for each patient encounter, using the Clinical and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers survey, has produced a 91% result that all patients would recommend a Mission Clinic provider. This work process and improvement was a podium presentation at the 2018 National Press Graney Conference. 

Linda lives with her husband, Ken in Asheville North Carolina where they enjoy the outdoors.
